Settling in...

After a long day of traveling, Nancy, the woman I am working for this summer picked me up from the ferry in Vineyard Haven,, May 15th.  She was and has been so wonderful!  She welcomed me with a bag MV happies-- a lobster roll, a yummy cupcake, The Martha’s Vineyard Times, and a book on MV.  On the way to Edgartown, where I live, we took the scenic route and she pointed out all of the important and historic things about the Island.  I was already hooked!

We then pulled up to my HOUSE which is in a prime location--could not be more perfect.  I love it!  It’s two bedroom, 2 bathrooms, a great kitchen, and a living room.   A lot of the houses on the island don’t have air conditioning, but WE DO!-- thank goodness! It’s a 10 min. walk into town and to where I work, so it’s very convenient.    Speaking of convenient, we live right across from the Stop & Shop, a grocery store.  But we live right next to the Dairy Queen, which on the other hand, could be really bad.  :)  Liz Duffy, my roommate has been so incredibly wonderful!  She’s from Chicago but graduated from Ole Miss this past May.  She lived on MV last summer, so she’s very knowledgeable about the island!  She has taken me in, shown me around the island, introduced me to her friends, provided things for the house, etc.-- couldn’t ask for a better roommate.

Currently, the WEATHER is chilly.  It’s about 60º during the day and 45º to 50º at night.  The weather can change immediately from sunny to foggy or rainy.  And the fog here is like I’ve never seen before! It’s kind of like a big monster hovering over the island...And when the fog is not on MV but you see it across the water on another island, it looks so spooky!
